Senior Sales Manager
The Iron Horse Hotel
Whether helping guests to plan their perfect event at the hotel or volunteering in her spare time with Meeting Professionals International as the organization’s VP of Education, Katie is passionate about special events. Always looking to make each event better than the last, her motto is, “Let’s make it happen!” And, you can see it in the creativity of the events she brings to life at the hotel, from weddings to a surprise concert that a client wanted to host after a group ride! Although she fell into the hospitality and events industry after leaving a plastics company in Minnesota, she loves her work and has never looked back after making the jump.
VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE
Katie counts her ability to switch gears easily when working with multiple clients and projects among her strengths, and she’s grateful to have honed the ability early in her career as an Executive Assistant to two VPs at the plastics company. In her role there, she found herself planning a lot of events and becoming the Restaurant Manager for a golf course owned by one of the VPs, which is what eventually led her into the hospitality and events industry. “On any given day, I could go from processing confidential agreements to booking travel to researching poppy seed buns for a Chicago-style hotdog,” Katie notes about her work at the time. She loved how every day was different and presented new challenges – something she also enjoys about working in her new role at The Iron Horse Hotel.
DON’T CALL OFF THE DOGS
Katie loves working at a dog-friendly hotel since she has two furry friends herself – a pug named Jaeger and a beagle-lab mix called Porter. “It instantly gives us something in common and we can share our experiences,” she says of connecting with guests who are fellow pet parents. Seeing how happy it makes those staying at The Iron Horse Hotel to have their pooch with them always makes her day.
Originally from Kenosha, Wisconsin, Katie now resides in Wauwatosa with her husband of two-and-a-half years, Sean, and their young daughter, Shaela. When she’s not at the hotel, they love to spend time together as a family, whether going on long walks or exploring the nearby zoo.
