Jordan Dechambre, Milwaukee fashion expert
Milwaukee may not be the first city you think of when you imagine a thriving fashion scene — but we love to surprise our visitors. The Third Ward neighborhood, less than a mile from The Iron Horse Hotel, is chock-a-block with thriving boutiques, quaint cafes, bustling restaurants and bars, and chic art galleries. I recommend starting your day at Bella Caffe (189 N. Milwaukee St.), a cozy local joint with strong coffee and a great tea selection. Once you’ve had your caffeine fix (and maybe a scone, for good measure), head to Broadway, where my fav local shops reside. You’ll find trendy Lela (321 N. Broadway), where national brands like Desigual and Trina Turk mix with funky local designers like Lulu’s Petals (one-of-a-kind costume jewelry) and Shanel Regier. National retailer Anthropologie (301 N. Broadway) fits in perfectly across from fab local spot Stephanie Horne (244 N. Broadway), the place to go for the perfect date-night outfit.
